James Threlkeld

James joined ConferenceDirect in February 2003 as Director of Global Accounts and Team Director for Northern California. His love of travel is what introduced him to the industry. After getting his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance from the University of Georgia, James spent 5 years exploring Hawaii, Asia and Europe becoming bilingual in Japanese along the way. He began his hotel career as the Japanese Guest Services Manager at the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa and went on to hold a variety of positions including Catering/Convention Services Manager, Senior Sales Manager and Regional Director of Sales for Hyatt and Starwood Hotels. Over the past 17 years, James has been an active member of several industry related associations including Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and Toastmasters International. His diverse hotel background, his love of all things travel-related and his business acumen are real assets to his clients and team. James enjoys photography, scuba diving, boating, snowboarding, cooking, reading and is a bit of a card sharp. He lives in beautiful Northern California and has a witty wife who thankfully helps him write his bio, as well as a near-perfect daughter and stepson.
